“ Really nice find, a bit off the beaten path in Kichijoji. This is an interior design/ceramics shop and a restaurant that serves Japanese teishoku (set meal). There also great desserts and alcohol - all quite organic and from fresh ingredients. I saw very few men in this place over the years - maybe because the branding is healthy food and houseware (and it's Japan). The vibe is super chill and the lighting and ambiance are brilliant (very quiet music, tungsten lights and wooden furniture. The teishoku is serves with white or brown rice, pickles and a main dish (you can choose from an salmon or chicken meat balls). There are also other dishes like curry. Warmly recommended! ”

“ The food was fantastic!!! The quality is top knotch. You can choose from white, brown, or 15-grain rice (all same price), as well as the rice portion (extra rice is +100, less rice is -50, which is a bigger discount compared to most restaurants). The food took some time to come out, which means they're not just heating up pre-made stuff. I got there at 11:45, and even for just 1 person there would be a 30-minute wait. I came back for dinner at 5:40 and there was no wait, but they were out of brown rice for the day. ”

“ Sweet Potato Butter Cake & Baked Cheese Cake @sippo_4 Located about 10 minutes walk north of Kichijoji station, Sippo is one of those rare beasts - a popular cafe where it is relatively easy to get a seat! It houses both a cafe and shop selling merchandise ranging from kitchen goods, clothing, stationery and baked goods to take out. ⏲ The atmosphere is very relaxed (industrial-chic?) and European style music plays from the ceiling speakers, giving it a bohemian vibe. Food here is mainly "teishoku" style set meals, and the menu changes daily. However, for my visit today, I was only interested in one thing - cake! With 6-7 different options I went for a pairing of Sweet Potato Butter Cake & Baked Cheese Cake. 2⃣ Butter cake is served warm, which really brings out the full flavor of the potato and butter, rich & creamy yet fluffy & light at the same time. For people who prefer their cakes less sweet, this is definitely a good choice. Baked cheese cake was very nice, with the scent of cinnamon & other spices spreading through your mouth. The biscuit base is satisfyingly crunchy and hard, meaning that you need a firm push of the fork to separate each piece of cake before putting in your mouth. The black pepper added to the base was a great touch. Both cakes came with whipped cream and a mint leaf. The coffee served here come from their sister cafe - Morisuke cafe in Mitaka - strong but easy to drink and with a smooth aftertaste. If you are looking for a nice place for food and/or desserts and want to escape the crowds around Kichijoji station, you should definitely try Sippo! “ Walking alone down the dark street, I arrived at my last order! I had fried fish set meal. And a cup of hot coffee after the meal! There were few foreigners in the store, and most of them were Japanese locals who enjoyed their daily conversations peacefully while eating meals and drinking tea. They also sell pretty and practical household items and cookies. If you want to see the daily lives of ordinary Japanese locals, I recommend you to visit. ^^ ”
